Judging Cheese is no joke

Marcus Brigstocke

The well known British comedian was a judge at the World Cheese Awards 2019 in Bergamo, Italy. He recently commented about his love for cheese in a radio 2 interview.

Listen to his great interview here https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p082m36v

On the judging day, I ate 42 cheeses, which it turns out is too many, I mean, I love cheese but that is too many.’

Cheese tasting model

Sounds like a dream come true, doesn’t it? Eating and judging 42 cheeses in a delicious festival of fromage. But it’s actually quite a serious business. It’s why the Academy of Cheese developed its cheese tasting model the “Structured Approach to Tasting Cheese” (SATC). This model was one of the Academy’s missions to “develop specific vocabulary and structure for examining and classifying cheeses”.
