What’s On in the Cheese World July 2024

With Summer finally putting in an appearance up here in the Northern Hemisphere, we’ve got some delicious and unique outdoor cheese events for you to hit the road and discover something new. Read on for details of these, and don’t forget to check out all the other courses and events in the Academy calendar.

1. American Cheese Society Annual Conference

  • 10-13 JUly 2024

Buffalo is home this year to the American Cheese Society’s 41st Annual Conference “Cheese for Real”. Register for 1-Day, Guest- or Full Conference passes and access a full and varied agenda of keynote sessions, tours and networking opportunities.

2. The Courtyard Dairy Festival of Cheese

  • 7 JUly 2024
  • 11aM – 3PM

Meet some of the finest farmhouse cheese-makers in the North, including Mary Davenport and her Supreme Champion cheese, Snowdrop, as they come together at The Courtyard Dairy’s famous shop near Settle, to showcase the brilliance of farm cheese. They will be joined by Kirkstall Brewery, Bouncing Cows’ Ice cream (with a blue cheese ice cream flavour!) and The Cheese Truck doing hot grilled cheese toasties. Throughout the day there will be demonstrations and talks on cheesemaking, cookery, beer and cheese matching, as well as kid goats to pet!

3. The People’s Cheese Semi-Finals

  • 21 JUly 2024
  • 12.30PM – 2.30PM

Following a truly epic first round at Chiswick Cheese Market last month, The Real Cheese Project are back for the People’s Cheese: Heritage Edition Semi Finals, as the nine territorial category winners go head-to-head in a live blind tasting, where you are the judge.

4. The Cheese Truck ON TOUR

If you’re heading off to any festivals this Summer, keep an eye open for the Cheese Truck. Run by the same legends behind the world-famous Pick and Cheese and The Cheese Barge, these guys will keep you fuelled for your weekend’s revelries. The Telegraph rated them as The Best Grilled Cheese in Britain and the Metro writes ‘The Cheese Truck could be the best street Food Truck ever’. Appearing at The Courtyard Dairy Festival of Cheese (7 July), Glastonbury, Kendal Calling and Lost Village to name a few, this year they will be using Jason’s Sourdough for all their grilled cheese toasties.

5. Wild Weald Tasting Dinner

  • 2 AUGUST 2024
  • 7PM – 11PM

If you go down to the woods today … join cheese expert, Francis Gimblett for a unique and interactive exploration of the Weald’s finest artisan cheeses and wines, in the mystical surrounds of ancient woodland. Francis will lead you through eight samples of wine and cheese, accompanied by salads, charcuterie and local tales. Camping also available.

6. Cheese Course For Beginners

  • 15 – 29 JULY 2024
  • 6PM – 9PM

Unleash your inner cheese geek and grow your knowledge by understanding the cheese make process and the importance of provenance. Develop your skills by learning a Structured Approach to Tasting and a range to tools to communicate about cheese. The course takes place over three Monday evenings at The Cheeseboard premises in Albion, Queensland and involves tasting lots of cheese!
