What’s happening in the cheese world this month: November 2023

1. Level One Associate Course with Paxton & Whitfield

Learn to taste like a expert: discover a structured approach to tasting and be introduced to a range of tools for effectively communicating about cheese. Learn how cheese is made, the history of cheese and the ultimate drinks matches. The course takes place in historic Jermyn Street, London and is a full-day event, starting at 9am


2. Makers & Mongers Residential Course: Affinage

Deeply rooted in the glory of French cheese tradition, Mons Formation integrates hands-on practice, formal instruction, and classroom discussion to train cheese professionals. This five day course, with 50% theory and discussion and 50% hands-on practice is the gold standard of affinage training.

3. Seize The Cheese – A New Musical

An uplifting comedy, loosely inspired by the world-famous cheese-rolling in Gloucestershire, people plummet down a deadly hill in pursuit of a speeding Double Gloucester cheese. Anarchic and hilarious, it’s the “English Book Of Mormon”, according to one critic.

4. Cheese Berlin 2023

We are excited our Director and cheesemaker, Paul Thomas of Urstrom Kaese, will be showcasing his full range of cheeses at Cheese Berlin and on the weekly market the day before. Since 2012, Cheese Berlin has been one of the most important events related to handcrafted cheese in Germany. With artisan cheese from all over Europe – and the people who transform the liquid milk into this wonderful variety! There is also an exciting program with tastings and a stage program with exciting topics and speakers. At the market you have the opportunity to meet the makers of your favourite cheeses, talk to them and discover new cheeses.

5. Modern British Cheeses: A Virtual Tasting with The Courtyard Dairy

Join Andy of The Courtyard Dairy as he guides you through six of the very best modern British cheeses, discussing their flavours and history. The session lasts one hour and includes six 80g portions of cheese – that’s enough for two people to enjoy the tasting. The ‘Cheese & wine’ option also includes two half bottles of wine – a red and a white, matched to your cheese.
