What is the Master of Cheese: Certification Pathway?
The Master of Cheese Certification Pathway is your central guide to working towards Master of Cheese status.
This Learning Road helps you understand what is required, where you are in the pathway and what you need to do next. It brings together the certification stages, Master of Cheese Standards, registration guidance, assessment requirements and final steps towards the award.
You do not need to complete everything in one sitting. Some parts of the pathway, such as your Research Paper and Portfolio, may take time to prepare. Others, such as the Tasting Assessment and General Paper, require focused preparation when you are ready.
Use this pathway to check your eligibility, understand which modules or assessments still apply to you, review the standards you need to demonstrate and plan your progress towards Master of Cheese status.
Becoming a Master of Cheese is the highest level of achievement within the Academy of Cheese. It recognises candidates who can demonstrate advanced knowledge, practical skill, industry contribution and the ability to communicate about cheese with confidence, clarity and authority.

For me, a Master of Cheese will demonstrate a true passion for the craft, as well as possess a deep understanding of provenance and the process of transforming milk into one of life’s great food experiences. They will also take great pride in passing on their knowledge to others.
RAYMOND BLANCThe Master of Cheese is the aspirational peak of people in cheese: knowledgeable and experienced across the world of cheese and the world’s cheese; generous in developing those around them; providing a lasting, acknowledged and widespread contribution to cheese.
MARY QUICKEA woman or a man being recognised by other fellow experts for his/her knowledge and experience. Main values and competencies should be the respect for the planet, caring about others and listening carefully but also sharing one’s knowledge.
