What is the Master of Cheese: Research Paper Assessment?
The Master of Cheese Research Paper Assessment is one of the required assessment elements within the Master of Cheese pathway.
It gives candidates the opportunity to explore a cheese-related subject in depth and demonstrate original thinking at Master of Cheese level. The assessment includes a 10,000-word Research Paper and a presentation, allowing you to show how you investigate a subject, interpret evidence, reach your own conclusions and communicate your findings clearly.

Your Research Paper should represent your own thinking and conclusions. A strong paper will not simply summarise existing information. It will show that you have explored your chosen topic carefully, considered relevant sources, interpreted what you have found and explained why it matters.
The Research Paper can be started once you have become a Fellow of the Academy of Cheese. It should be approached as a planned project, giving you enough time to choose a suitable topic, carry out preliminary research, prepare your proposal, complete the written paper and prepare for the presentation.

You should consider this assessment when you are ready to commit the time needed to plan, research, write, review and present your work. Depending on your topic, research method, available evidence and writing schedule, it may take up to a year to complete the Research Paper to a satisfactory level.
