Who are we?

White Lake Cheese are artisan goat, sheep and Guernsey cow milk cheese makers based near Shepton Mallet in Somerset.

Cheese making started back in the 1930s with Roger Longman’s grandfather. Originally making a traditional cheddar from the family herd, evolving to finally become White Lake Cheese in 2004. Delving into what was then, a niche market of goat’s cheese production.

These days we have a range of over 30 different soft and semi-hard cheeses all made on our farm.

Why are you supporting Affineur of the Year 2023?

We believe that affineuring is a very important and not often shouted about skill. We know from first hand experience how tricky it can be, and are delighted to support the Affineur of the Year competition and to raise the profile.  Hopefully, it will encourage others to train and become involved.
