Perry’s expertise in cheese-making and affinage, which is recognised on a global level, was honed through both refinement, experimentation and study with some of the world’s seasoned affineurs. In 2022, his dedication to the craft was recognised when he was awarded the distinguished title of ‘Affineur of the Year’ for the first two consecutive years of the competition being held. Moreover, Perry’s influence as a judge at prestigious cheese competitions, such as the World Cheese Awards, further underscores his impact on the global stage.

Perry has been a passionate advocate for the British cheese industry, educating both consumers and fellow industry professionals alike via his role of accredited Training Partner of the Academy of Cheese.

As a youngster, Perry spent his summers in Polzeath, Cornwall. His mornings were devoted to surfing, while the rest of the day was occupied with work at a local farm-restaurant. One memorable summer, he organized a pig race that, quite unexpectedly, drew the attention of none other than Harry Enfield.

“I couldn’t resist telling him about the endless heckles I used to get at school because of Kevin and Perry,” Perry recalled. “Yes Mrs Patterson, no Mrs Patterson... and so on.” Enfield laughed, and then—perfectly on cue—struck the classic Kevin teenage strop pose, shouted “That’s so unfaaaairrr!” and stormed off down the track in full character.

That same summer also brought Perry a brief brush with television fame: a one-month gig as an extra on Doc Martin, which included an unforgettable scene where Martin took a pasty straight to the face.
