Learn what it takes to be a judge & put your skills to the test in a blind tasting of six cheeses. This in-person masterclass and tasting is taking place at the Guild of Fine Food’s judging venue, just around the corner from London’s Borough Market. It is sure to fine tune your tasting skills and give you an insight into what it’s like to be a Great Taste judge.
What is Great Taste?
Great Taste is the largest and most trusted food & drink accreditation scheme, using 1 (Delicious), 2 (Outstanding) and 3 (Exquisite) stars to represent their rating. The judges take into account texture, appearance and of course the quality of the ingredients; but above all else the question remains – does the product taste truly great?

The Masterclass
Great Taste judges have honed their senses in order to professionally assess a cheese. In this masterclass, cheese expert and industry legend, Patrick McGuigan will acquaint you with your senses and show how taste, texture, aroma and appearance all play a part when it comes to considering a cheese’s quality.
And once you’ve done the theory, it’s time to put your new skills to the test, with a blind tasting of six delicious cheeses.
And then the finale! You get to play at being a cheese judge and will decide which cheeses are worthy of 1, 2 or 3 Great Taste stars. Will your tasting skills match up to those of a Great Taste judge?
