Dairy Farmers of Wisconsin
Wisconsin Cheese
In Wisconsin, cheese is our tradition, our heritage, and our craft. Our ancestors were dairy farmers and cheesemakers who passed their knowledge, skill, and passion on to their descendants. in 2022, the Dairy Farmers of Wisconsin established Cheese State University to provide accessible and relevant education to those working in the cheese industry.
Cultivating Terroir
Generations of Wisconsin family farmers have practiced the best in animal care to turn Wisconsin’s unique terroir into high-quality milk that becomes award-winning Wisconsin Cheese.
Cheesemaking Heritage
With that milk and the traditions our ancestors brought with them from Europe, each generation of Wisconsin cheesemakers uses that knowledge and experience to craft the best cheese possible.
Hundreds of Varieties
Wisconsin is home to over 600 varieties, types, and styles of cheese, including seasonal cheeses, unique flavor combinations, European-inspired classics, and Wisconsin Originals.
Wisconsin Master Cheesemakers®
And while we may win more awards than any other state or country, we don’t take it for granted. That’s why in 1994 we established the Wisconsin Master Cheesemaker® program - the only one of its kind outside of Switzerland where makers can become official masters of their craft.
Proudly Wisconsin Cheese Badge
Our love for our tradition and craft is also why we put the Proudly Wisconsin Cheese badge on our products. We want you to know where this great cheese comes from and join us with every bite in our continued passion for it.
