A celebration of the art of maturing cheese and guiding it to its full potential
Back in May 2021, the Academy of Cheese and Quicke’s launched a brand new competition for the Cheese Industry. The Affineur of the Year competition is a unique opportunity for cheesemongers and cheesemakers to showcase, across the world, the skill and artistry involved in guiding a cheese to its full potential.
Ten 27kg truckles of Quicke’s cheddar made from the same vat, are currently maturing in eight highly respected cheesemakers and cheesemongers maturing rooms across the country. The truckles have been turned, tweaked and graded, as each cheddar reacts to the specific temperature, humidity levels and unique microflora within its maturing rooms.
Event details
Join us at the Chinese Exchange on Wednesday 27th April 2022 when all ten truckles will be judged by a select committee of industry experts at an event hosted by the Academy of Cheese & Quicke’s and the winner will be crowned Affineur of the Year 2022.
This is an incredibly exciting chance to discover the impact of maturing Quicke’s truckles, hear from some of the top cheese experts in the country and of course sample all the cheeses!
