About Sharpham Cheese

Devon’s sustainable estate cheesemakers.

Sharpham Cheese is an artisan cheesemaker based in South Devon on the historic Sharpham Estate near the River Dart. Cheesemaking began there in 1982 under environmentalist Maurice Ash, and the dairy is now run by the Parsons family, who continue the estate’s commitment to sustainable farming and artisan food production.

The dairy produces a range of cow’s and mixed-milk cheeses crafted by an experienced team of cheesemakers with over a century of combined experience. Known for cheeses such as Sharpham Rustic and Sharpham Savour, the dairy blends traditional cheesemaking techniques with environmentally conscious practices.

Sharpham became the first UK cheesemaker certified as a B Corporation, reflecting its commitment to environmental and social responsibility alongside high-quality cheese production. Within the British artisan cheese sector, the company stands as both a competitor and producer within the market context surrounding Affineur of the Year.
