Emma Cachau
Young Cheesemonger of the Year 2025 Finalist and Champion of French Cheese
Bringing French tradition and craftsmanship to every cheese counter
Emma Cachau is a French cheesemonger based in Paris, currently working at Fromagerie Chataigner in the 9th arrondissement. Her journey into the world of cheese began in the summer of 2023 at Crèmerie Delacour, where a short-term position inspired a lasting professional commitment to the craft. While studying art history, Emma continued part-time at the crèmerie before deciding to dedicate herself fully to cheesemaking and retail. She went on to complete her French Cheesemonger CAP and CIFCA Paris diploma, combining formal training with practical, hands-on experience.
At Fromagerie Chataigner, Emma’s responsibilities span every aspect of the trade: from cheese care and counter service to advising customers and managing daily operations. She particularly values the connection with regular patrons and the opportunity to introduce newcomers to French and European cheeses.
Emma credits her former mentor, Emmeric Gonzalez-Delacour, with inspiring her passion for cheese and instilling a respect for artisanal quality and tradition. Looking ahead, she hopes to open her own cheese shop in Paris, continuing to share her knowledge and appreciation for fine fromage.
She was nominated by the Federations des Fromagers as their entry for Young Cheesemonger of the Year 2025.
