Have you got what it takes to be Young Cheesemonger of the Year?
We’re thrilled to be supporting the exciting Young Cheesemonger of the Year competition at the British Cheese Awards 2019.
Becoming an expert Cheesemonger is an exceptional skill worth celebrating! If you want to establish yourself as the next generation of professional cheese champions, then we want to hear from you.
So, what’s required? To enter, you must be aged under 30 years and answer the following question: ‘You have £30 to shop for a cheeseboard for 6 people – which British cheeses would you buy?’
Shortlisted entries will be selected by judges from the British Cheese Awards. Finalists will be required to attend the competition at the Royal Bath & West Show, Shepton Mallet, Somerset on Thursday 30th May 2019 at the Royal Bath & West Show.
Round 1 – Finalists will discuss their initial cheeseboard selection
Round 2 – Candidates will cut and wrap different weights of cheese by sight
Round 3 – Entrants will taste and identify unmarked cheeses
Round 4 – Contestants will participate in a Master-rind quiz and respond to questions about British cheese
