This Level One cheese course takes place over three evenings, via Zoom, and is perfect for anybody who wants to understand the basics of cheese and cheesemaking. It’s also a great stepping-stone for anybody whose career involves the preparation, serving or selling of cheese.
Over three evenings Charlie follows the Academy of Cheese’s Level One course, with learning focussing around tasting and enjoying cheese.
All course sessions are recorded and available for reviewing or if you are unable to attend. You’ll learn how cheese is made, how to assess its quality, and develop an understanding of the provenance and range of cheeses available.
You will taste 12 of the classic cheeses, taken from the 25 Level One cheeses book before you’re ready to sit your online exam and gain your Academy of Cheese Associate certification. The course will introduce you to the Academy’s own Structured Approach to Tasting cheese and you will discover a range of tools to help you communicate more effectively about cheese.
Whilst it is not compulsory to buy the cheese to taste along with Charlie, we do recommend it, to get the most out of the course. Yes, to be certified candidates will need to take the Academy of Cheese® Level One Associate exam after completing the course. This exam can be taken online, at home and at the convenience of the student. Candidates who successfully complete the exam will receive a certificate and pin badge.
