We are delighted to have paired up with Cheese and Wine Painting Club, in association The Cheese Society to give you this very special opportunity to paint a Brie, and taste along!

With expert tuition, over zoom, from Ed Sumner ART, this is no run-of-the-mill cheese tasting, nor is it an ordinary painting class. This is a paint-taste fusion!

We will be recreating ‘This IS a Piece of Cheese’ by artist Rene Magritte. Famous for “Ceci n’est pas une pipe,” he also made “Ceci est un moreceau de fromage,” (This IS a piece of cheese.) All the critics who claimed that the pipe was actually a pipe, now had to confess that the piece of cheese, which was now correctly-titled, was not actually a piece of cheese!

A list of art supplies needed can be found on the booking page, from where you can also purchase a Starter Art Kit*, which contains everything you need.

Cheese expert, Lucie Nook, from The Cheese Society, will be joining the class to tell us about how this particular Brie is made and the tasting notes therein. Lucie has curated a special tasting box for you to taste along as you paint, which can be ordered using the link below (link also on the booking page). The tasting box contains a wedge of Brie de Meaux , a wedge of Stichelton and a box of Peter’s Yard crackers.*
