The Cheese Night

On Friday evening, at the beginning of the Cheese weekend, cheeses and cheesemakers are at the center of Berlin’s gastronomy, with the city’s most exciting restaurants, wine bars and craftbeer pubs. We bring cheese makers and restaurateurs together, and everyone develops their own individual format for this very special evening. From the complete menu around the cheese and the people behind it, to a cheesemaker * in personally served cheese course to people and cheese at the bar for open tasting, perhaps also in combination with very special wines or beers – the cheese night means a lot good cheese in your favorite bars and restaurants.

Cheese Berlin – The Big Market

On 10 November 2019, the Markthalle Neun fills up with cheese! Crafted cheeses from the Berlin countryside, from Germany, Europe, the world. Our focus is on the cheese makers themselves, the people who stand by the kettle and turn the liquid milk into all the wonderful cheese variety. In the Markthalle Nine, they come from all corners of the world: from Norway, Ireland and Great Britain, Italy, Spain and Slovenia, from the Netherlands, Austria and Switzerland – but of course also from Germany. Here you can meet them, talk to them, taste and buy their great cheeses. And because cheese is indeed a world of its own, but is happy to be accompanied, there are, as always, all sorts of delicious, bread, wine and beer, tastings and discussions.

Tastings & Workshops

Ursula Heinzelmann takes you on a journey of discovery with her Heinzelcheesetalks, armed with exciting cheese and a few bottles of wine, is tasted, talked and discussed together – and one or two cheese secrets uncovered. In addition, Slow Food invites together with exhibitors for tasting at their regular’s table; Meanwhile, children can shake butter and try milking. To get even closer to the cheese, you can become a cheese maker in our cheese school or get to know the cheese makers’ tales at the Meet the Cheese Makers Talks.
